Spider-Man: Worldwide – I’m Finally, Fully HOME

This is an important post for this site.  Well, it’s an important post for me I guess, that’s a better way to put it.  It doesn’t have a strong, driving social justice message.  It isn’t a call to action.  It isn’t a heavy analysis or anything like that.  But for the first time in almost twenty years, I’m finally reading The Amazing Spider-Man again every month.   For someone who’s always loved Spider-Man as much as I do, this is important.  It turns out, being back in the current life of Peter Parker means even more to me than I thought it would. Top Five Wednesday – Favorite First Sentences

Top Five LogoThis week those crazy cats over at Goodreads have issued the following challenge to the world of Top 5 Wednesday writers – put together a list of your top five favorite first sentences.  Sounds intriguing right??  It is!  However, once I considered it, I realized this would end up being trickier than I thought.  I am excellent at quoting films or shows I love – and even certain lines in literature.  But, with the exception of a few classic lines, I don’t tend to remember the first sentence of even the books that are most beloved to me.  But I didn’t let that stop me!  So here you have it folks, my list of five favorite first sentences! Top Five Wednesday – Books I’ve Come to Feel Differently About

Top Five LogoAh yes, Wednesday…the calendars have turned over once again to this magical day.  The world is treated once more to the latest in literary engaging prompts from the lovely people running the T5W group over at Goodreads.  Yay!  These always end up prompting faaar more deep reflection then I expect once I actually sit down to write them.  Because of that, they’ve become some of my favorite posts.  The idea this week was to highlight five books that I feel differently about after I’ve had time to think about them or reread them.  After several days of thinking, talking it out, and starring at my bookshelves, here’s what finally made the cut!  This may have ended up being my most eclectic Top Five Wednesday yet… Continue reading
