Queen Amidala – Fiction’s Fearless Females

By Jeffrey Cagle of The Imperial Talker

Standing behind the doors leading into the royal hanger, the Queen of Naboo, surrounded by her loyal handmaidens and advisers, must make a choice. One path will keep the teenage monarch on Naboo, with her people, risking capture and death at the hands of the invading Trade Federation. The alternative path will take her off-world, traveling with the two Jedi escorting her, running the Trade Federation blockade above her world in the hopes of reaching Coruscant, the capital of the Republic, to plead for help directly to the Senate. In Defense of Attack Of The Clones

It’s no secret I love Attack Of The Clones.  It’s also no secret I’m in the minority here.  Even among those who love the Prequels, Attack Of The Clones is often ranked last when the films are discussed.  But not for me!  I’ve said it before and I’ll proudly say it again: I love the Prequels and Attack Of The Clones is my favorite film of the Trilogy!  On that note, a few months back, Kiri (of Star Wars Anonymous) and I were having a comment section conversation about this film when she proposed an intriguing idea.  She suggested we do twin posts, she writing about her disdain for the film (while trying to highlight some things she enjoys about it) while I write on my undying affection for this cinematic masterpiece (while pointing out some things that bother me).  Obviously, I was in.  Can I convince you, my lovely reader, of its brilliance?  I say…GAME ON. Star Wars ComLINKS: Favorite Score

While my record with posting in the Star Wars ComLINKS series is far from perfect, I pride myself on being the first link added (for the ones I write) when Jenmarie has the post go live on Anakin and His Angel.  Welllllllllll this linkup went live on October 18th.  YIKES.  Now I must wrestle with not meeting the arbitrary standards I set for myself.  Mea culpa!  My angsty writer issues aside, this month’s (or last month’s technically) topic is (was) to choose our favorite score in the films and discuss why it means so much to us/speaks to us in the way it does.  Are you ready to know mine?!  Has the featured image already given it away?!? Star Wars ComLINKS: Favorite Female Character

Much like Woody Allen Wednesdays took a hit when teaching slowed my participation in joint blogging adventures (papers don’t grade themselves…phooey), I’ve been sadly absent from Anakin and His Angel‘s Star Wars ComLINKS for a few months.  But I’m back baby!  This month, in honor of the Forces Of Destiny cartoon shorts on the Disney YouTube channel, Jenmarie has focused our ComLINKS posts on favorite female characters.  There are so many strong women I love in Star Wars.  Where would we be without Princess Leia??  And we have Padmé Amidala, Mara Jade, Jaina Solo, Admiral Natasi Daala, Shmi Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano too!  But for me, this post belongs to Mallatobuck.  Malla is Chewie’s wife and their relationship serves as a moving meditation on the strength of love.
