Captain Marvel – A Trailer, A Hunch

Okay so obviously I know the Captain Marvel trailer(s) came out before the one for Avengers: Endgame.  And, in the wake of my feelings on Avengers: Infinity War, I’ve been pretty open about being more excited for Captain Marvel than Avengers 4.  So you may be wondering why, pray tell, didn’t I write about this trailer when it came out?  Well, when I watched it I had a feeling and this feeling informed what I wanted to write.  However, to write what I wanted to write, I needed to see if my hunch played out and for that I needed to see the Avengers 4 trailer.  Now, having basked in the glory and excitement of both the Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame trailers, I’m ready to talk about our first look(s) at Carol Danvers cinematic debut! Obviously, like so many others, I immediately stopped everything I was doing to watch the Avengers: Endgame trailer when it was released today.  As I proceeded to rewatch it (a bunch of times) I was struck by a unique idea.  What if I wrote about the trailer?!?  It just came out.  I have random thoughts and feelings.  What if I used the internet to share those immediate thoughts and feelings?!?  I know it’s unheard of for someone to use the internet as a medium to publish their immediate, undeveloped reactions to something as soon as it happens.  But I felt this idea was just crazy enough to work!  Plus, I’ve been pretty open about my disappointment with Avengers: Infinity War so I wanted to talk about the surprise punch to the feels this first trailer brought. The Future of the MCU: A Little Speculative Fun

With the premiere of Black Panther just two weeks away, my excitement couldn’t be higher!  I have fallen in love with the character through Ta-Nehisi Coates genre-defining run on the title and my anticipation of seeing the world of Wakanda on the big screen has legitimately surpassed – by far (and for real!) – my excitement for Avengers: Infinity War.  And now Black Panther has taken the record for the largest ticket presale for any superhero movie ever!!  As I get ready for Black Panther, I’ve been thinking a lot about what Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will look like.  Who lives?!?  Who dies?!?  What movies will we see down the line?!?  Here are my guesses… Continue reading
