I’ve written a piece for the Star Wars fansite Future Of The Force! It’s about Marvel’s Lando miniseries and how it adds depth and beauty to the character of Lobot and his relationship with Lando. I also talk about how I love all these additional Star Wars stories – be they from the Expanded Universe or the new Disney Canon – because they continue to expand the universe George Lucas created in so many ways. I’m excited to be contributing to Future of the Force and I’d appreciate your clicking this handy little link and bouncing over there to give the piece a read. Please and thank you!
Thanks, Michael. Always good stuff. You can’t go wrong with well-developed characters. It looks like that is what we have here.

Yeah, I was really surprised by it myself! I think the shorter miniseries might be stronger than the regular, on-going monthly Star Wars titles. At least in my opinion they are.

I just finished this mini-series this week and was taken aback by exactly what you detailed in your post! Lando and Lobot are fleshed out to the point where my perspectives of them have changed completely., so much so that I feel compelled to revisit the Empire Strikes Back just to see them together again. The comics in general have managed to make up for the limited time with these characters gloriously.
Your post well and truly hits the mark. Lando is worthy addition to any collection, an absolute gem of a series in an already superb collection of stories.

I’m happy you’re jumping into the Star Wars titles! They’re produced a lot of comics in a relatively short amount of time. ‘Lando’ was certainly one of their best. I’ve always wanted more Lando (one of the reasons the old school, B-movie feeling, sci-fi stories they wrote about Lando (like ‘Lando Calrissian and the Flame Winds of Ossion’!) from the 80’s have always been favorites of mine). This gave me just what I wanted!
I think my favorites of what Marvel’s put out for the Disney Canon are the miniseries so far. They can give us a snapshot like this and then move on. But my favorite of the monthly series was the original Darth Vader title. I thought it was incredible! I have yet to sample the new one, but I’ve heard good things.

I believe Lando is getting another series, tying in to Solo: A Star Wars Story. I’m not entirely sure what it is detailing but more Lando can only be a good thing.

Ooo, I hadn’t heard that. But I agree! In fact, personally, I kind of wish ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ had instead been ‘Lando: A Star Wars Story.’ It could have been this great ‘Ocean’s 11’/’Casino Royale’ sort of thriller and/or heist movie :).

You say that but I’m pretty sure Donald Glover is going to have his fair share of the lime light.
I’m not sure my heart can take all the exciting films coming out these next few months!

Oh yeah, I think you’re right. I bet we’ll get to see a lot of Lando in this one! But there’s still a part of me that would like the film to have been set a little further away from ‘A New Hope,’ just Lando doing his thing,
You’re also right that we have SO MUCH exciting stuff to look forward too. It is a good time to be alive and loving the movies :).
